We offer Vitamin B12 and Vitamin C injections for wellbeing
Vitamin B12 (Cobalamin)
Vitamin B12 (also called cobalamin) is an essential nutrient that cannot be made internally by the human body. Instead it is required via dietary intake, however for some this either does not happen due to malabsorption, poor intake of B12 rich foods, or other genetic/biological factors (including coeliac). A lack of Vitamin B12 may cause anaemia (a lack of oxygen carrying red blood cells). Vitamin B12 in the diet is only food in foods of animal origin, meaning that those who do not eat animal based foods are likely to develop a B12 deficiency without adequate supplementation
B12 deficiency has been linked to the following signs and symptoms:
A vitamin B12 boost can be given safely and quickly via an intramuscular injection, similar to those given at a routine GP or nurse visit when a vaccination is given
B12 given intramuscularly is well absorbed by the body, and is released gradually over a period of time. This route bypasses any issues that have previously prevented absorption in the gut
At our centre we use high quality Methylcobalamin for standard B12 injections, and (prescription only) Hydroxocobalamin for those with pernicious anemia (and others who need a prescription strength dosage)
You do not need a prescription or referal to gain access to methycobalamin
Hydroxocobalamin is well suited to those with pernicious anaemia. Other types of cobalamin injection are not best suited to those with this condition
£30 per injection - methylcobalamin
£100 per course of 4 injections (methylcobalamin only)
For hydroxocobalamin there is a minimum number of treatments that are chargeable as this requires a prescription charge to cover the course of treatment:
For 5 treatments of hydroxocobalamin (approximately every 3 months) - £175 - includes prescriber fee and private prescription
For 10 treatments of hydroxocobalamin (approx. every 3 months) - £325 (save £25) - includes prescriber fee and private prescription
Vitamin C (Ascorbic Acid)
Vitamin C is an essential nutrient. It is important to tissue repair, maintaining healthy skin and other cells, and in immune system effectiveness, amongst other functions. A deficiency of Vitamin C causes scurvy, where weakness, tiredness, and sore arms and legs may become apparent. As collagen function in the human body requires Vitamin C, the tissues (including the skin) may become unstable and deteriorate with deficiency
Vitamin C is typically gained from dietary intake, however it is safe to boost the Vitamin C levels in the body using an intramuscular (IM) injection. This is usually given into a large muscle, such as the thigh. Vitamin C from dietary sources cannot be stored by the body, although an IM injection of Vitamin will be released more slowly into the body than via the digestive route
We consider Vitamin C to be important to our clients and use high quality products. Those undertaking skin care therapies are recommended a Vitamin C boost.
£25 per treatment if taken separately
£15 per treatment if combined with a B12 shot at £30 (total price £45)
